Sunlight And Emotions

The sun has a very powerful effect on many aspects of our lives, even our emotions. We have all experienced that wonderful feeling of waking up on a beautiful sunny day and feeling happy to be alive. Conversely, lack of sunlight also has its effects on us.

Recent research in Greenland, a country that has 24 hour daylight at certain times of the year has shown a surprising correlation be etween excessive daylight and suicide.  More frequently, peoplcomplain of having winter blues or cabin fever during winter months, when the weather is colder and the days are shorter. Although this is fairly common and something that just makes most of us a little lazier and prone to want to stay in the house, for people prone to Seasonal Affective Disorder, depression, anxiety and fatigue can occur. It can severely impair the ability to enjoy life.

"I'd worked as an observer for years, but needed to re-certify.  I learned more in this course than I ever imagined I could and I passed the exam with flying colors. I am definately a better observer as well."     TS, Louisiana

I knew nothing about weather at all.  My new job depended on passing the weather observer certification test.  Thanks to the patience and personal attention you gave us all, the entire class passed. JB, Texas

"When my company sent me to this class I thought I didn't need the training.  I was wrong.  Thanks"   RB, Texas
